Bernina's 1,000 Pillowcase Donation To Riley's Children's Hospital! Come join us in making pillowcases to donate to Riley's Children's Hosptial! To date we have made over 1,000 pillowcases to be donated locally. This is a Bernina USA challenge to their dealers and will be a year long project for us. We have worked so hard to get this many done - there has been a tremendous amount of work here by our customers as well as us. A local doctor donated 700 yards of fabric to us and one local High School Home Ec classes are making some too. People have worked in the shop as well as at home to make loads of these.
We will be donating them to Riley's Childrens Hospital here in Evansvile. Each sick child will receive a pillowcase to use and keep. These will brighten a child's day and hopefully make their hospital room a bit more cheery.
It takes one yard to make each pillowcase so we have used 1000 yards of fabric so far.
Our shop began working on this community project in March so we have done alot in a short amount of time. We provide the sergers, thread, and the kits already to go. We all turn and press each stitched pillowcase.
At our recent Girl's Night Out 150 were made with seven sergers going and two people pressing. We had 300 kits ready to go.
In 2008 BERNINA joined forces with the American Heart Association and pledged to raise $100,000 toward fighting heart disease, the number 1 killer of women in the U.S. Staff and customers of Bernina Sewing Center partnered up to create this beautiful quilt to support the cure for heart disease! Way to go ladies! Together we can do anything! Check out our class schedule for a list of times that you can come in and make pillowcases to donate! Or click here to see available times.
